Loved our tour guide
Our tour guide Michelle was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and shared a lot of fun facts about the Marie Antoinette estate and the Palace de Versailles. We also heard so many anecdotes from Marie Antoinette’s life and learned a lot about King Louis XIV, and Louis XVI. I particularly enjoyed seeing the queen’s room with the extravagant decorations. This tour was better than I could have imagined! Such a fun day!
Impressive palace and a great tour
This was our family’s first time in Paris and while planning the trip, we knew that we had to go to Versailles Palace. I found this tour, and boy am I glad! It’s hard to put into words how impressive the Palace is, everything is so big and full of art. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the Palace and Marie Antoinette’s life. The whole day flew by so quickly, I also particularly liked walking through the Gardens and seeing The Orangery.

Interesting facts about Marie Antoinette
SHE HAD A SECRET ESCAPE ROOM
There is a hidden door behind the mirrors that leads to a private staircase in her bedroom at the Versailles Palace. This is the door that allowed her to escape during the storming of Versailles by an angry mob in 1789.
MARIE ANTOINETTE WAS A MUSICIAN
Marie Antoinette played the flute, the harpsichord, and the harp and was a singer. She enjoyed performing for friends and family and often played in the Music Room at the Petit Trianon. She even met Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart during a recital for the imperial family when he was only six years old.
SHE WAS AN EARLY ADOPTER OF HOT CHOCOLATE
The queen loved hot chocolate, which, at the time, was still considered a luxury. She enjoyed drinking it in the mornings, and her love for hot chocolate helped popularize chocolate consumption in France’s aristocratic circles.
MARIE ANTOINETTE'S LAST WORDS WERE AN APOLOGY TO HER EXECUTIONER
As Marie Antoinette prepared for the guillotine, she apparently accidentally stepped on her executioner’s foot. In response, she gave him an apology saying something along the lines of “Pardonnez-moi, monsieur. Je ne l’ai pas fait expres”, which means “Pardon me, sir, I did not do it on purpose”.
