A great day trip!
We wanted to shake up our Paris vacation, and this day trip seemed like great value for money - Claude Monet’s house and the Versailles Palace at once. Two birds with one stone! It was soooo worth it! Seeing the water lilies in real life was an out-of-body experience, and the beautiful palace was the cherry on top.
Very well-organized and no waiting in line
It was great to just show up and have a bus take you everywhere. If I had to organize this trip myself, it would have been pretty overwhelming, but this way, I didn’t have to worry. The skip-the-line tickets at Versailles were also a lifesaver - that line was MILES long. So glad we didn’t have to wait!

Do you know who restored Monet's house and the Palace of Versailles?
It was the same person! Gerald van der Kemp, a French curator, oversaw the restoration of both Monet’s house and Versailles Palace. Monet’s estate took 4 years to restore and cost $2.5 million. Restoring Versailles Palace, however, took nearly 30 years, and earned van der Kemp the nickname of “The Man Who Gave Us Back Versailles”.
