A day to remember!

Versailles is so beautiful and large. I believe we could walk and explore the Palace of Versailles for 2 days if we had the time. The transportation was such a nice addition as we could focus only on our enjoyment. The gardens were beautiful, and the Hall of Mirrors seemed unreal how ornate it was. I would say another trip to Versailles is warranted at some point!

Great time and convenient transport

Our favorite part has to be the Hall of Mirrors due to the sheer spectacle, but not by much, as the whole Versailles palace and gardens were amazing. The audio guide was a great addition, and we learned a lot of things we didn’t know before. Also, we didn't have to worry about transportation in a new country, which was really convenient.

RELAX IN THE ROYAL GARDENS

Roam through the Royal Gardens and take in the rich contents of the Versailles estate. From the Palace, you can reach the Orangery which is host to approximately 1500 trees, containing orange trees, lemon trees, and palms. Afterward, you can take a trip toward Latona’s Fountain. When continuing further, you will find yourself on the Great Lawn. This 1099-foot (335-meter) long and 131-foot (40-meter) wide lawn was laid out by Louis XIII. The following attractions that await you in the Gardens are the Mirror Pool and Apollo’s Fountain, among others. You can also visit Marie Antoinette’s Estate, including the Petit Trianon. Originally constructed by Louis XIV, part of the estate was given to Marie Antoinette by Louis XVI due to her difficulties in adapting to life in court. There, she commissioned luxurious landscaped gardens centered around rustic cottages. Marie Antoinette loved to spend large amounts of time there.

How the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles was built

In the 17th century, Venice had a monopoly on creating mirrors. At that time, mirrors were one of the most expensive items to possess. To build the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, France had to entice Venitian mirror makers to come to France and work on the Hall themselves. Legend has it that Venice kept an eye on their mirror makers and forbade them from leaving the city under the harsh penalty of death to keep the monopoly.
